THE BACHELOR OF ARTS IN POLITICAL SCIENCE
LAW & LEGAL STUDIES 

Students interested in the Law & Legal Studies field should plan their course of study in consultation with 
Dr. Keith Eakins, the advisor for this field of study. An outline of the program is provided below. 
 
I. Core Requirements
9 Hrs
POL 2103 Elements of Political Science
POL 2013 Information Management in Political Science
POL 4993 *Democratic Governance [The Capstone Course]
*Students should schedule this course during the semester prior to graduation.
 
II. The Law & Legal Studies field
27 Hrs
A. The field Core - 9 Hrs.
POL 2203 Introduction to Law
POL 3203 Constitutional Law: Limitations
POL 4413 Judicial Process 

B. Guided Electives - 18 Hrs.
The Political Science Department offers a number of courses related to law and legal studies. Any of those listed below can be taken to fulfill the guided elective requirement for the Law & Legal Studies field. Other courses may be suitable if prior approval is received from the Advisor.*

*When approved, Seminars (POL 4911-3), Topics (POL 2001-3), and Advanced Topics (POL 3991-3) may be counted.
 
III. Related Electives
18 Hrs
The department encourages you to select courses in related areas with the remainder of the elective hours you have. Courses selected should support the objectives of a Liberal Arts Education and of the B.A. in Political Science. You are encouraged to consider courses from such disciplines as History, Economics, the Humanities, English, Philosophy, and Geography.
