History of the Chapter
|
The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), established in 1939, is the largest and most prominent professional association in the field of public administration. With a diverse membership composed of more than 10,000 practitioners, teachers and students, ASPA has emerged as the focal point for intellectual and professional interaction, thereby serving as the principal arena for linking thought and practice within the field of public administration.
Oklahoma has long had a tradition of having one of the more active ASPA chapters. The Oklahoma Chapter of ASPA represents the field of public administration for the state of Oklahoma as a whole. While the Chapter is based in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, members come from all areas of the state and from all levels of government.
The Oklahoma Chapter is basically the creation of its members -- its activities and functions are a reflection of the goals and interests of those members who want to be involved in the field of public administration at the local level.
