Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, is the only honor society for college students of political science and government in the United States.


 

Announcements:

 

Sigma Mu’s Achievements/Activities for 2007-2008

bullet Initiated 19 students in 2007/2008 year.
bullet Won a National Chapter Grant for 2007 in December 2007, which funded the Spring 2008 banquet.
bullet Several Pi Sigma Alpha students attended the OPSA annual meeting at the Capitol in November 2007.
bullet The following Pi Sigma Alpha students received awards at the Spring 2008 College of Liberal Arts Awards dinner:
bullet Jennifer Vickers won the  Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award, the top award given by the College, a 3rd place paper award, and the Randall J. Jones Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award
bullet Kimberley Mc-Coy-Hefron won the Outstanding Graduate Student in Public Affairs Award
bullet Paige Sealock won the Leadership Award, the Outstanding Junior in Political Science Award, and the Julian and Irene Rothbaum Student Achievement Award
bullet Jonathon England won the 2nd Place Undergraduate Paper Award
bullet Terranne Williams won the Fall 2007 Pi Sigma Alpha Award, while Paul Bashline won the Spring 2008 Pi Sigma Alpha Award
bullet Sponsored two first-graders from Ida Freeman Elementary School for the President’s Club Christmas party.
bullet Hosted a Fall 2007 initiation/graduation banquet at Dr. Hardt’s house, as well as a Spring 2008 banquet at Charleston’s with free dinner provided for all the members.
bullet Sponsored three panels at the Spring 2008 College of Liberal Arts Symposium on the Use of Torture, Same-Sex Marriage, and Immigration which were well attended and sparked some heated debates.
bullet Held a faculty student mixer which featured BBQ from a famous chef (ha! ha!) in April 2008.

Chapter of the Year:  For the third year in a row (!), the UCO Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha has won a Best Chapter Award among large universities!
