Read to Lead

by Dr. Moose (AKA Melissa Ingram)

It’s time for a story—

now all gather ‘round.

When looking for a leader,

this is who I found.

He was born in a humble abode,

but up to fame he rode.

He encourages us to spur on

and before we knew it we were gone.

Gone far away in a land of imagination,

a land of Dr. Suess’s creation.

He took us on Beyond Zebra,

he took us to Mulberry Street.

He told us we could do anything

with our shoes full of feet.

In him the seven habits are evident you see.

Let’s look at this book and see

the places they can be.

I hope you had fun with this little rhyme.

Hopefully, by now I’m running out of tme.

Dr. Suess was an amazing man you see.

He impacted the lives of people like me.

Did he lead a country?

Did he take a stand?

On the surface he was just an ordinary man.

But Dr. Suess will forever be the man

who could hold the world in the palm of his hand.

He opened the field of children’s literature wide

and the rest of his life was one crazy ride.

He lead the way for others to follow,

and through this he shaped the leaders of tomorrow.

Teach them young and then they’ll grow

and share with others the things they know.

From generation to generation,

love for Suess has swept the nation.

From past, to present, to future we run

with years of enjoying Dr. Suess’s fun.
