City Management Internship Program
Responsibilities
The City of Edmond and the University of Central Oklahoma are seeking
applicants for the Carl Reherman City Management Internship Program. The
position reports to the City Manager’s Office and offers experience in
various areas of city management. Job responsibilities may include research,
report writing, data compilation and analysis, special projects, coordination
of programs, assistance with day-to-day operations and other related duties as
required.
Term and Hours
Successful candidates are expected to work an average of
15-20 hours per week
in a flexible schedule. Undergraduates are restricted to a maximum of two
semesters.
Stipend
Up to $2,000 for undergraduate, and up to $2,500 for graduate students per semester.
Stipend will be paid, usually in increments, sometime during the semester
worked.
Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must be students in good standing with the
University of Central Oklahoma and have a grade point average 3.0 or above.
Applicants can be from any major but must have completed or be enrolled in
Political Science 2413: Introduction to Public Administration or
Political Science 1203: State and Local Government. Interns must also
be enrolled for internship credit during the semester(s) of their assignment.
This program is intended for students planning to pursue a career in municipal
government and public administration.

of recommendation from a professor familiar with the candidate’s potential,

Closing Date
To receive priority consideration, all
application materials should be received by the first week of the new
semester.
Selection
Initial evaluation of application materials received and subsequent
interviews of finalists will be conducted by a committee composed of members
of the UCO Political Science Department faculty and representatives from the
City of Edmond.
Background of Program
Named after Carl Reherman, former Mayor of Edmond and former Professor of
Political Science at the University of Central Oklahoma, this program is
designed to attract quality students to a rewarding career in public service.
