Political Science International Relations Minor Requirements


Students pursuing an international relations minor in political science must earn 18 hours of political science course credit in the following way:

Required Courses (9 hours):
  •   POL 2303 Introduction to World Politics
  •   POL 2713 Introduction to Comparative Politics
  •   POL 4543 International Cooperation
Political Science Electives (9 hours):
Choose from the following course list:

  •   POL 4023 Chinese Politics
  •   POL 4143 African Politics
  •   POL 4303 European Politics
  •   POL 4403 Asian Politics
  •   POL 4623 International Conflict
  •   POL 4633 Politics and the World Economy
  •   POL 4733 American Foreign Policy
  •   POL 4783 Political Violence
  •   POL 4813 Latin American Politics
In addition to the scheduled course offerings in political science (see the University Undergraduate Catalog) electives may include the following occasional and arranged courses:
  •   POL 2000 Topics in Political Science
  •   POL 3000 Workshop in Political Science
  •   POL 3990 Advanced Topics
  •   POL 3990-2 Model United Nations

These course designations are used for topics or activities that are not included in the University catalog. Depending upon the arrangement with the professor, a course from this list may offer from one to eight hours’ credit. Students should inquire with the department about setting up courses with these designations. POL 1113 American National Government does not count as a departmental elective. It is a University core requirement for all UCO students.
