Congratulations to Everett Slavik, T.R. Papp, and Ibrahima Ndoye for successfully defending their respective thesis projects this past December.  Everett will be deployed in the Army this coming February.

Graduate Student Katie Richey with Congressman Ernest Istook.  Katie serves as the Executive Director of the Independent Electrical Contractors of Oklahoma City.

 
The Oklahoma Political Science Association awarded Jeanette Nance with the Undergraduate Paper of the Year and Rob Woods with the Graduate Paper of the Year.  Both are political science majors at UCO.
 
The Oklahoma Political Science Association recognized Dr. Jan Hardt as Oklahoma Political Science Teacher of the Year for 2004 and Dr. Husam Mohamad as Oklahoma Political Science Scholar of the Year.
 

The journal, New Plains Review, is publishing articles from UCO Political Science students.  The articles appearing in the Spring 2005 issue are are Bryan E. Taylor’s “Fighting Birds, Lotteries, and Education,” Markus Smith’s “Capital Punishment on Trial in Oklahoma,” Rob Woods’ “Where Have All the Socialists Gone? Reform Politics in Oklahoma,” Jeanette Nance’s “Keating, Dreyfus, Dilantin, and the Prisoners,” and Matthew C. Nowlin’s “Just War Theory and ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom.”
