Rho Lambda Chapter at the University of Central Oklahoma
About Phi Alpha Theta And Rho Lambda
Phi Alpha Theta is an honor society whose mission
is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of good
teaching, research, publication, and the exchange of ideas among historians.
Since its inauguration, Phi Alpha Theta has grown to over 850 chapters in 50
states. The total number of initiates since its inception is more than
270,000.
Rho Lambda, the local chapter of Phi Alpha Theta
at UCO, brings students, professors, and writers of history together
for inte1lectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical
understanding and research at UCO. Officers of Rho Lambda schedule special
speakers, organize field trips, and present scholarly papers at regional and
national conferences--quite often winning prizes for academic excellence. It
is no accident that Rho Lambda has won the Best Chapter
Award several times in the last decade.
The officers of Rho Lambda have prepared an exciting schedule of
activities for spring 2008. See our 'Planned Activities' page for information
about meetings, field trips, guest speakers, and other events. We regularly
invite non-members to participate in our activities. If you are interested
in joining Phi Alpha Theta, see our 'Membership' page for eligibility
standards.
