HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS SPEAK
Lea Weems and Ruth Steinfeld
November 8, 2001
Two survivors of a Nazi concentration camp--Lea Weems and
her sister Ruth Steinfeld--were Rho Lambda's featured speakers on November 8
in the Pegasus Theater (Liberal Arts Building).
This very special program commemorated Kristallnacht, a tragic November
night in 1938 that the two sisters remember very well. Born in Germany
around the time Hitler came to power, the two young girls in 1940 were
deported to Gurs, a concentration camp in southern France. Over 300
students, professors, and Edmond residents sat spellbound in the Pegasus
Theater as the two women related their tragic experiences during the war
years. It was an evening few will ever forget.
