Dr. Pamela Washington, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, came to UCO from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette in 1989. As Director of Freshman Composition, she directed the composition program, where she trained and supervised the teaching assistants, and helped oversee the tutoring lab.

As a specialist in Rhetorical History and Composition Theory, Dr. Washington helped design the History of rhetoric courses and the composition strategies and theory courses. Her current areas of interest are gender based rhetorics and the connections between rhetorical theory and literature.

With her rhetorical studies as a strong background in the classics, Dr. Washington has been teaching the World Literature courses for the department and has worked hard to incorporate Non-western literature into the curriculum.

Students in 19th Century American Women Writers can find important links to authors at EDEN Alcott's house. Students in World Literature I can find homework and lecture notes at Diotima Theocritos' house.
