Pamela Washington, Dean of College of Liberal Arts
Dr. Pamela Washington, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, came to UCO from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette in 1989. As Director of Freshman Composition, she directed the composition program, where she trained and supervised the teaching assistants, and helped to oversee the tutoring lab.
As a specialist in Rhetorical History and Composition Theory, Dr. Washington helped design the History of Rhetoric courses and the composition strategies and theory courses. Her current areas of interests are gender-based rhetoric and the connections between rhetorical theory and literature.
With her rhetorical studies and a strong background in the classics, Dr. Washington has been teaching World Literature courses for the department and has worked hard to incorporate Non-western literature into the curriculum.
